Topic : TRAIN TO TRIAL and TRIAL TO TRAIN

TWO PART SPECIAL PODCAST FOR APRIL !

PART ONE- SPECIAL GUEST- FRANK HURST- President and Professional K9 Handler for Bloodhound Man- Trackers , a non profit organization aiding in search for missing persons, cold case evidence and more ! Frank has been an NACSW Trial Judge since 2014 or maybe even before ! Frank has cheered on countless sport dog teams over ten plus years and is an amazing supporter and enthusiastic Nosework Judge.

To foster our Train to Trial and Trial to Train- we will engage Frank in a fun and interesting conversation about his life experience as a K9 Handler and BEHIND THE TRIAL SCENES as a  Trial Judge with NACSW and other scent detection sport organizations. What does Nosework mean to him as a trial official ? What memorable moments stand out over ten years of saying more YES than NO ! What changes has he observed along the way ? What might he anticipate for our dog sport future ? Find out what Frank has to say in this fun and informative conversation !

PART TWO- TO REWARD OR NOT REWARD- THAT IS THE QUESTION - GOT THAT ONE !

How do we train MOVING ON v REWARD AT SOURCE in training ? Does this change for trial day ? Does our dog have clarity of a prior found hide or prior found odor ? Is this a handler construct to fit our scent detection sport  for effective and efficient trial performance searching ? All these questions and more- in this insightful discussion inspired by a recent trial where as a handler I got "lost" between two mirror hides and thought a not yet found hide or new hide was potentially a prior found hide and later asked myself does that matter ?  Does my dog differentiate found odor from not found odor ? New odor from old odor ? Conundrum or maybe not ?
